I am a crochet afghan addict. This issue (August 2010) of your magazine is the best one yet, so many ideas! I keep all my issues.

I live in a retirement community and we have a group which knits and crochets baby hats and blankets for a local hospital. Although I crocheted a number of hats, I knew that they also use "huggables" - one-piece cloth animals - to give to children entering the hospital in the emergency room or as patients. I made the Calico Cat from an old issue of Crochet World for myself and thought it would be similar to the huggables. I did several and found that they really liked them, so now I am always on the lookout for cute little toys which I can make for them. Mostly I've done animals, but when I saw My Pal Patches, I decided to try him. I look forward to getting my magazines, especially the ones with toys in them. Thank you for the great designs.

I had to share this with your magazine. My mom received this magazine as a gift from one of her grandsons this Christmas, as she loves to crochet. Both of her grandsons, ages 11 and 4, LOVE trains. As soon as she saw the Locomotive afghan pattern, she knew that she had to make them each one. We knew she was going to make the afghans and figured they would be a Christmas present for next year, considering the amount of work in each one. You can imagine how surprised we were on Easter Sunday when the boys opened their Easter presents to discover a Locomotive afghan EACH!!! The boys were so excited and we feel our Mom deserves great praise for not only completing such an intricate pattern, but in record time. Thank you for such a great pattern that our boys will cherish forever.
